High School Bands MSBOA District Band Festival Information - April 20th, 2021

This year's MSBOA Band Festival is in a virtual format this year, which means we will record our program and submit it to MSBOA adjudicators to listen to and give us feedback and a rating.

This event is a high honor in any year, and in a challenging year such as this one, it says a lot about our kids and program that we are still able to prepare for and participate in this prestigious event. We are so proud of them for their hard work!

Unfortunately, because this event is indoors, we are unable to welcome a parent audience to this event, but we will plan to put out performance video for our families once we have completed the editing of our audio & videos. We are SO excited to welcome a parent audience for our Spring Concert - outdoors, in Perry Stadium, May 18th (Rain Dates May 20th)

Location: Perry High School Auditorium - enter in using door W1

ITINERARY

Call Time: 6:00pm

Sound Check: 6:15pm

Performance Time: 7pm

Departure Time: 7:45pm

Performance Attire: Since we are unfortunately unable to distribute uniforms this year, we are asking all of our performers to "dress nice" in what can be referred to as "business casual."

This term is meant to be open ended - as long as the attire looks nice and professional, it will be acceptable for our presentation during our concerts.

If you're unsure of what this may mean, here is a reference:

What to Wear for Women

Appropriate business casual outfits for women include a skirt or dress slacks, blouse, sweater, twinset, jacket (optional), and hosiery (optional) with closed-toe shoes. Sandals or peep-toe shoes may be permissible in some offices but save flip-flops for the weekend.

Some specific items may include:

  • Khaki, corduroy, twill, or cotton pants or conservative-length skirts

  • Sweaters, twinsets, cardigans, polo/knit shirts

  • A professional dress

What to Wear for Men

For men, appropriate business casual attire is dress slacks or chinos, a button-down shirt, dark socks, and dress shoes. Avoid wearing polo shirts to an interview, even if they are acceptable for the job in question. Do not wear jeans or shorts. Athletic socks are also a no-no.

Some specific items may include:

  • Khaki, gabardine, wool, or cotton pants, neatly pressed

  • Cotton long-sleeve, button-down shirts, pressed

  • Sweaters

  • Leather shoes, in black and brown

  • Leather belt, in black and brown

  • A selection of ties

If you have any questions about this, or if you are in need of assistance with this, please do not hesitate to email Mr. Arnold.

DISCLAIMER:

Mr. Arnold reserves the right to reschedule this recording for later in the month sometime during class due to too many quarantines, feeling of unpreparedness due to previous quarantines, etc.
